Sudan TV confirms that it was subjected to sabotage on the eve of the signing of the peace agreement
Sudan TV confirmed that it had been subjected to a "major sabotage" operation, between ten in the evening the day before yesterday and at seven thirty in the morning yesterday, that is, on the eve of Sudan TV’s preparation to transmit the initialing ceremony of the “peace agreement” between the government and the “revolutionary front”, Yesterday in the city of Juba, the capital of South Sudan.
Luqman Ahmed, Director General of the Public Authority for Radio and Television in Sudan, said in a statement this evening, Tuesday, that "the sabotage operation consisted in removing six reception panels, distributing and transmitting the image and sound from the main control room of the television, which paralyzed and destroyed its ability to receive, distribute and broadcast image and sound."
He explained that until 7:30 in the morning yesterday, the main control room of the TV was not able to receive, distribute and broadcast, and therefore it was not able to transmit the signing of the peace agreement ceremony from Juba.
He added that the television and information technology engineers had engaged in tremendous efforts to provide alternative panels, which were installed and attempted to revive the control room, and were able to accomplish this prior to the start of the signing ceremony of the peace agreement from Juba, for Sudan TV to transmit the signing ceremony, as it was the only source to transmit the event to all Sudanese and Arab channels .
He pointed out that the value of "withdrawn panels" is estimated at 15 thousand dollars, and they are not sellable, because they are suitable for work only in the main control room of Sudan TV, stressing that a number of administrative measures have been taken, and criminal investigations are also being conducted, as a result of this incident.
